All About Lips #73

First came the Maybelline Colour Elixirs, but now we have the matte version - Maybelline Velvet Matte Liquid Lip Colour and there's a total of 10 shades, although the number goes up to MAT12, because 3 and 5 do not exist!

So here are the 10 shades swatched, it runs from Left Top-Bottom : MAT1, MAT2, MAT4, MAT6, MAT7 and then on the Right Bottom-Top : MAT8, MAT9, MAT10, MAT11, MAT12

As you can see, there are 3 distinct pinky corals, and then a plum colour, 3 reds, a purple, a vampy dark red and a nude.




I bought 3 shades in total and it was RM34.85 each, a bit of an OUCH on my part but there were more colours that I wanted than not. (Note to self : MAT1, 9, 11)

So I picked up the plum colour MAT6,  this red colour MAT7 and the only nude MAT12 in the range.

The cap is actually matte black, compared to the original Colour Elixirs which are named Maybelline Colour Sensational Lip Polish in Asia, which have a silver cap, symbolic of its shiny finish.

The doe foot applicators are quite generic with a pointy top and a rounder fuller middle portion

The actual applicators are also quite fuzzy and distributes a good amount of colour. One coat is sufficient but two is BEAUTIFUL.

With the array of colours, especially red, I think there is a colour to suit everyone! 7 is a more blue based red (hence why I picked it, whereas 8 is rather orange red, 9 is a true red and 11 is a dark vampy red which I am lusting over so so much).



Here I applied a second coat of MAT6, which is my favourite shade of the three!

These apply like a lip gloss/lip paint sort of product and they are supposed to dry down to a matte finish. I did not have the patience to wait as after 5 minutes it was still satin-ish so I just blotted it with a tissue for this matte finish!

I wore this throughout the day and although they are not kiss proof or transfer proof, they do stain the lips, so you are left with a lovely colour even after eating. Overall I am impressed with the colour selection, I like the product a lot. It does not replace the Sephora cream lip stains in my opinion but it sure is a beautiful way to wear a bold lip!
